Employee Leave Of Absence

The City recognizes that there may be times when it is necessary for an employee to be absent from work to attend to various personal matters. Paid leaves of absence may be granted for special circumstances and unpaid leave is also available under certain conditions.

Employees, both union and non-union, requiring an absence from work should direct their request to their immediate supervisor.

A leave of absence may be requested for the following reasons:

  • adoption
  • bereavement
  • education
  • elections
  • jury duty
  • maternity
  • military service
  • parental
  • personal (family emergency or illness)
