Hours of Operation

Year Round: Tuesday to Sunday: 12 - 4 pm

Closed Mondays, Good Friday, Canada Day (July 1), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Depending on availability, we will gladly open outside of regular hours for
pre-booked groups.

History Hacker


Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology

"History Hacker, History Maker - Victorian Design and Thinking in the 21st Century" brings together the work of local artists, makers and history lovers in a participatory and interactive environment. Combining technology, design, maker culture and Steampunk aesthetic it allows visitors to explore Victorian technology of the past and how that technology could be used today. The exhibit features the work of local artists and makers whose work spans a variety of mediums interspersed with strange and curious artefacts from the museum's collection.

Be a Mad Scientist


Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology

To celebrate Halloween, the Steam Museum Woodshed has been transformed into a Mad Scientist's Laboratory! Young folks are invited to take part in our spooky science workshop, where they will get to perform some creepy chemistry experiments, including making slime, learn about the freaky physics of steam engines, and take a Halloween-themed tour of the 1859 Pumphouse. Mad Scientists-in-Training will also get to decorate their own mad glasses, and create their own lava lamp to take home.
Date: Saturday, October 25, 2014
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Ages: 6 to 12 years.
Cost: $30.00 per child. Parents are welcome to stay for the workshop, however it is not a requirement. Pre-registration required.


Wednesday Wigglers - Hallowe'en


Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology

The Hamilton Children's Museum and Wednesday Wigglers are on the move. Families can enjoy pre-school programing and visit children's museum staff at various locations in Hamilton. Join us at the museum listed for activities designed for children. All programs include songs, story time, sensory play and crafts.

Be an Engineer!


Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology

To honour Thomas Keefer and the profession of Mechanical Engineering, young folks are invited to learn about engineering and take the opportunity to build their very own balloon powered car out of building blocks. Children must be accompanied by a parent (choking hazard warning).

Ages: 6 to 12 years.
Cost: $20.00 per child. Pre-registration required.
